Steveston, where the Fraser River meets the Pacific Ocean, is a vibrant and growing area in the southwest corner of the City of Richmond. Originally an agricultural village, Steveston evolved rapidly to become a very busy fishing port, boasting over a dozen canneries at one time. The closing of the canneries has initiated a great deal of residential development, with something to suit all buyers. There are three distinct areas within Steveston – Steveston North, Steveston South and Steveston Village.
It is evident that with new development occurring on many sites, the setting, the community spirit, and the easy access to Vancouver, YVR and other areas of Metro Vancouver, Steveston Real Estate has become some of the most sought-after properties on the lower mainland. The area has quickly become a favourite location not only for the real estate but for its numerous amenities. The Steveston Community Centre offers a wide variety of programs and services. The community is host to a Canada Day parade and the world-famous Steveston Salmon Festival, held yearly on July 1st. It is evident from the visitors and residents on the busy streets that the ambience and charm of Steveston appeals to many.
